Yorkshire Sculpture Park

Few now realise that the pioneering Yorkshire Sculpture Park has now existed for a quarter of a century, in its 550 acres near Wakefield.

Peter Murray, the director, can now boast a whole range of public facilities, including the new visitor centre café, restaurant, shop, exhibition spaces and an auditorium. Currently some 20 contemporary artists are involved in new projects.

Not only are Henry Moore, Elizabeth Frink, Barbara Hepworth, Anthony Caro and Philip King all represented, but also Richard Serra, Antony Gormley, and Richard Wentworth are there. James Turrell is currently working on a project there.

The YSP is fortunate, compared with most galleries in having enough acreage to give adequate space to even the most demanding requirements.
